Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye’s Pinnochio is still airing so it’s not exactly a good idea to come up with another drama with reporters as main characters. Ji Chang Wook, however, assures the viewers that in spite of this similarity, his new drama Healer is nothing like Pinocchio.
While Pinocchio has writer Park Hye Run, Healer has Song Ji Na. Well the latter just happened to write Sandglass, at 64%, is the third highest rated Korean drama of all time! And the PD is of King of Baking: Kim Tak Gu, a drama which drew 50% of viewer ratings.
With hit makers like them on board and a talented set of leads on screen, I just can’t help but have high expectations for this. Besides, how can I possibly lower those standards when sweaty topless Ji Chang Wook appears in the first few minutes staring like that as if demanding my full, undivided attention.(๑╹ڡ╹)
I miss you Paeha!!! Ji Chang Wook plays “Healer”. He calls himself a mere errand boy even though he certainly is more than that. With a genius ahjumma hacker in his team, he finishes highly sensitive and even dangerous surreptitious assignments for a substantial price. His character is like a mix of Ethan Hunt, James Bond and ‘The Transporter’ while looking slick like Lee Yoon Seung in City Hunter.
Park Min Young is a tabloid reporter who is struggling to come up with a scoop that could change her life. She believes that getting an exclusive interview with The Healer would launch that career. Little did she know that she’d eventually become The Healer’s target after all.
Yoo Ji Tae is internationally known for his role in the movie, Old Boy. Now he is back on the small screen to play the highly respected senior journalist, Kim Moon Ho. It’s been a while since he appeared in a drama but the talent doesn’t seem to get rusty as he shows a serious and conflicted character.
“My time is caught on the past, and so, I had no tomorrow. If I find that child, perhaps I might have a tomorrow.”
He wrote as he requests for Healer’s help.
I totally enjoy watching the numerous times the leads have put on disguises for their jobs, but on top of that, this drama has enough intrigue to make want to look forward into delving more into the story as well as the ways in which its characters’ lives are intertwined. It also comes with an amazing soundtrack.
Healer is a mix of action, comedy, drama, romance and thriller. After two episodes,I still don’t know in which genre should this drama be filed under but I’m pretty sure this has a spot under the ‘awesome’ category.
